How can massage benefit you?

I launched #TheHolisticHideaway two years ago with the intention of helping stressed out people to find a way to really switch off and relax. During this time I’ve found that #massage is one of the best #relaxation aids. There are many benefits of massage ranging from pain relief to improved digestion and improved circulation but one of the biggest for my clients is #stressrelief.

So many people get caught up in the rushing around of every day life and they often believe that they do not have the time to truly relax. Many people exist within a bubble of stress and it becomes normal. However, stress can have a detrimental physical affect on your body which can lead to muscle tension, depression, high blood pressure and even heart disease.

Stress, anxiety or worry can leave you feeling fatigued which in turn could affect your efficiency, motivation and productivity at work and in every day life, this in turn adds to the worry and stress, leaving you in a vicious circle which is very difficult to get out of. A relaxation massage will help you to unwind and let go of your worries and it will leave you feeling energised and ready to focus clearly on any problems that may arise.

Stress can also cause #tensionheadaches which result in pain radiating up your neck into the back of your head, the pain can be very debilitating and prevents you from thinking clearly.

Regular massage helps to prevent and reduce the symptoms relating to stress and restores your overall feeling of tranquility, releasing tension in the muscles and allowing your body the time to begin the self healing process. There is evidence that massage increases the release of dopamine and serotonin, which improve mood and reduce the effects of stress in turn allowing us to develop a restful sleep pattern.

Massage is also a wonderful way to reduce your pain, whether it is back pain, painful joints, headaches or chronic pain resulting from illness or injury. By reducing tension in the muscles and swelling around the joints you should feel a significant difference in your pain. The increased circulation helps your body to remove waste products more efficiently.

We should not have to live with pain or stress. Having regular massage can really help you to reduce both and leave you leading a happier and more productive life. Please note that massage is a #complimentarytherapy and should not be used instead of medicine or treatment prescribed by your GP.
